Steps
- 1
If the tool supports MCP sign-in (OAuth), give it the server address. It opens the GlobalBrain sign-in page by itself.
https://mcp-staging.global-brain.ai/mcp
- 2
The GlobalBrain sign-in page opens. Enter your email and choose Email me a sign-in link. Then either follow the link in the email or type the code from it on the page.
New to GlobalBrain? The email creates your account, and you set up your brain in about a minute. Then name the connection (such as “My agent”; its saved thoughts are labelled with it) and choose Approve.

Put these instructions in the agent's system prompt:
GlobalBrain is my shared memory across all my AI tools. Use its tools without waiting to be asked. This tool's name is: My agent. Search first. Before answering about my work, decisions, preferences or plans, call search_thoughts. Capture. When something is worth keeping (a decision, insight, plan, open question, how-to or preference), search first to avoid duplicates, then call capture_thought with: - content: self-contained, readable by another AI later - kind: observation, hypothesis, decision, preference, question, procedure or reference - title: 5 to 10 words - producer_client: My agent Link. If a thought builds on, backs up, contradicts, replaces or duplicates another, call add_relationship with relationship_type derived_from, supports, contradicts, supersedes, elaborates or duplicate_of. Flag for use. To mark a thought for later work, call add_use with purpose task, research_input, reference, architecture_proposal or blog_candidate. Retire. When a decision is replaced, call update_lifecycle on the old thought with lifecycle_status superseded and a short reason.

Check it works: have it call the
connection_statustool. - 5
Most scripts, automations and agent frameworks can't sign in. For those, use a key.
Good to know
- An agent that signs in gets the same access as one with a key: the brain you choose on the approval page, and nothing else.
